Grand jury indicts Gilmanton man on diamond ring theft

LACONIA — A Belknap County Superior Court Grand Jury has handed up indictments against Douglas Poirier, 41, of 144 Province Road, Gilmanton, on charges of theft by unauthorized taking and receiving stolen property involving the theft of a diamond ring worth more than $1,500 from a resident of Laconia.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt, but an independent jury’s decision, after hearing from police, that sufficient evidence exists to warrant a court trial.

The grand jury also indicted Perley J. Laraway, 40, of 5 Cedar Court, Franklin, on the theft of merchandise from the Tilton Walmart, valued at more than $1,000.

There were several indictments on charges of operating motor vehicles after being certified as habitual offenders. Among them were Mykel Obrenovich, 30, of 35 Walker Road, Center Barnstead; Gregory M. Packard, 51, of 193 Pleasant St., Laconia; Tara Pierce, 46, of 3421 River Road, Plymouth; Robert Saulnier, 45, of 12 Snell Road, Meredith; and Donald C. West, 45, of 36 Merrimac St., Penacook.
