Inter-Lakes girls take tourney

MEREDITH — The Inter-Lakes girls basketball team won the holiday tournament at Farmington High School Saturday night by defeating Kennett 50-37.
Emma Wheeler set the pace with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, while Jessalyn Brown added 11 points.
Mollie Durand had 10 points and Julia Gintof had seven points and six assists.
Kennett was led by J. Wrobleski with 15 points, C. Chick with 10 points and L. Cote with seven points
The Lakers earned their way to the championship game by beating Pittsfield 62-57 and host team Farmington 64-53 in the semifinal game.
Wheeler and Gintof were named to the All Tournament team.
Laker coach Elizabeth Pion-Burlison said, “We had to keep on the shooters and we did a great job shutting them down. We also played great defense and we were all on the same page. It was a great way to end 2017. We need to bring this momentum to 2018.”
The Lakers have lost only one game so far this season.
They will be out to avenge their only defeat when they host undefeated Newfound Friday night at 6 p.m. The Bears beat Inter-Lakes 54-42 two weeks ago.
