Woman said to have crashed car on Parade Rd. while fleeing police

MEREDITH — A Vermont woman, allegedly fleeing from Laconia police, was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing her car on Parade Road on Thursday evening.

Laconia police reported that an officer responded to Parade Road at 10:25 p.m. on Thursday after dispatch received a report of a vehicle driven erratically. The officer stopped a vehicle and made contact with its driver, later identified as Julie J. Maxfield, 46, of Stockbridge, Vermont, who then allegedly drove off and crossed the Meredith town line, where she crashed into another vehicle and a tree.

Maxfield was arrested on the charges of driving while intoxicated, third offensse, and disobeying an officer. She was then taken to Lakes Region General Hospital and later released on personal recognizance bail.
