Cold fingers, warm hearts for Ice Racing Club

MOULTONBOROUGH — The fans and racers at the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club's weekly races may have had some cold fingers and toes, but their hearts were warmed by a special guest. Team Chloe was on the ice representing the Best Buddies of NH. With rosy checks and a smile for everyone, Chloe posed in all the victory circle celebrations and made the rounds of the pits and the spectator areas collecting donations for Best Buddies. Chloe even scored a trophy of her own when Fabian Smith, winner of the 4-Cylinder Rear Wheel Drive feature, graciously gave his trophy to her.

Burns Automotive Services of Moultonboro sponsored the week's races held on Lee Pond during a very cold day. The only thing that stops the ice racers is warm weather so the racing started on schedule at noon. Hot laps and qualifying heats for the 5 divisions were run on the freshly prepared 1/3 mile oval. The feature winners were as follows: Juniors (13-15 years) – Matt DeMond of Moultonborough, 4-Cyl FWD – Jack Cook of Moultonborough, 4-Cyl RWD – Fabian Smith of Meredith, V8 Stock – Alley Ripley of Center Ossipee, and Modifieds – Mike Horsch of Moultonborough.

More information about Best Buddies of NH and the great work they do can be found at www.BestBuddiesNewHampshire.org. The next scheduled ice race is the Suzanne Taggett benefit race on Sunday February 15th. Check the club's website at www.LRIRC.com or their Facebook page for the latest race/ice status, information about coming events, and for race photos. The Lakes Region Ice Racing Club races on Lee and Berry Ponds as long as the ice stays safe. See you on the ice.
