The Gilford High School girls' tennis team opened its season with a win on Wednesday, defeating the visiting Inter-Lakes team 5-3.
Gilford's top seeded singles player Lindsey Corsack defeated Caitly Curran 8-0. Also earning points for Gilford were singles players Emily Hanf, Abby Lines and Kayla Vieten. Inter-Lakes hit back in the fifth and sixth singles matches, thanks to wins by Emily Robinson and Zoe Frentress.
Gilford sealed the win with the 8-4 doubles win by Corsack and Hanf. Inter-Lakes's Curran and Robinson won the second doubles match, though. With the overall victory already secured for Gilford, and as the cold and wind intensified, the third doubles match was cancelled.
