Lakes Region Youth Hockey Squirt team wins cup at Marlborough Tournament

Last weekend, Lakes Region Youth Hockey's Allan Gilbert Builders Squirt One team won the Challenge Cup at the Marlborough Tournament.

Friday morning was the beginning of the 5 game battle, taking on the Brewster Bulldogs for a 8-1 win. The following game that very day was against a tough team from Nantucket that fought the Lakers to a 0-0 tie after two periods. The Lakers finally broke through in the third period on the way to a 4-0 win.

After a very long rest on Saturday, the Lakers competed in a 6 p.m. game against Duxbury, Mass. The Lakers came out with an impressive 8-0 victory and with it the first seed going in the semi-finals early morning on Sunday.

Sunday morning, the Dover Stars were no match for the Lakers. The Lakers took the 9-1 win.

In front of a an excited crowd, the Lakers faced off in the championship game against the 3rd seed Wesley, Mass. From the drop of the puck, the game was a well fought battle between two great teams. The Lakers were able to pull off the win 3-2.
