LACONIA — The Laconia-Winnisquam Wolfpack improved to 3-6 on the season with a 4-1 victory over ConVal on Saturday night. The Wolfpack tandem of Matt Missert and Dakota Tyno led the way. Both forwards had three points on the evening, Tyno with a hat trick and Missert a goal and two assists.
"This is what we have been working towards all season," said coach TJ Galligan. "It was a team victory. It is nice to see DK (Tyno) and Missert show their leadership ability on the ice."
Missert opened up the scoring in the first on a wrist shot from the right faceoff dot beating the ConVal netminder over the left shoulder six minutes into the game. Tyno wasted no time choosing the same spot above the glove to net his first goal of the game. ConVal had many quality scoring chances in the first period, most of which were shut down by Wolfpack goalie Brayden Harriman. The lone goal let in by Harriman came on a ConVal powerplay half way into the first. Harriman had 35 saves on the evening.
The Wolfpack controlled the second and third periods. "We got off to a slow start to begin the game," added Galligan, "but with a little chat after the first, the kids responded." Laconia-Winnisquam doubled their lead on Tyno's second tally of the night, sliding the puck in between the pads of ConVal's goalie. Tyno's third goal came on an empty net to cap the scoring.
"We are healthy and running three solid lines for the first time all year," Galligan continued. "We are healthy at the right time. This week is going to be a challenge for our guys." The Wolfpack will host Portsmouth tomorrow night and travel to Berlin on Saturday to make up a game postponed from earlier this season. Both opponents stand above the Wolfpack in the standings.
