Snack-selling succcess leads to free participation in Youth Football & Cheer Association

The Laconia Youth Football and Cheer Association, an affiliate of American Youth Football, held its annual banquet on 1/25/14. During the course of the evening the announcement was made by President Rod Roy that "Because of the collaborative efforts between our organization and Laconia High School, we are very proud to announce that next season, for any child wishing to participate in football or cheer, registration will be free!"

Registration to participate in the LYFCA organization has historically been $100 per child. The Laconia Chiefs organization was able to waive that fee because of the work and dedication of their concession stand coordinator, Tricia Roy and her volunteers. With the opening of the new Bank of N.H. Stadium, home to both the Chiefs and the Laconia High School Sachems, LYFCA reached an agreement with the school to operate the concession stand at the Sachems' home games. This venture, coupled with running the concession stand at their own home games and being able to host the state playoffs, saw a significant increase in the Chiefs' concession stand profits. This increase allowed the Chiefs' Board of Directors to realize a long time goal of theirs; waiving the registration fees for all participants.

"We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to operate the concession stand during the Sachems' home games," said Roy, "We wanted to translate our good fortune to our members with the hopes of increasing enrollment on both our football and cheer squads." Roy went on to say "As long as we are able to continue with the win/win situation with the High School, we will be able to allow the children of our draw area (Laconia and the surrounding Lakes Region towns) the opportunity to participate in our organization free of charge."
