Wavemakers secure 3rd place finish at Con-Val Invitational

Strong swims from many swimmers helped the Lakes Region Wavemakers secure a third place finish overall at the 2014 Connecticut Valley Invitational in White River Junction, VT. Over 30 swimmers attended the meet with many posting personal best times and placing in the top 6 in order to earn points for the team. Ayden Malloy (8), Rebecca Cook (15), and Ela Goucher (8) were the top point earners for the team overall. Cook and Malloy each earned 22 points and Goucher added 20 to the team's total.

In the 8 and under age group, Sydney Philippy (6) and Malloy both had big time drops to achieve new personal best times in their events. Philippy dropped 13.37 seconds in her 50 freestyle and Malloy dropped 3.01 in the same event. Malloy and Goucher were the top point earners for this age group.

For the 9-10 swimmers, Joshua Kelleher (10) earned a total of 16 points for the team and Rose Sinkus (10), the second top point earner in this age group, contributed 3 points. Notable time drops were made by Kelleher, Charlotte Philippy (9), Gracie Shoemaker (10), Alexa Lazazzera (10), Jacob Dumais (9), and Lauren Sikoski (9). Sikoski had the biggest time drop cutting off 16.41 seconds in her 100 free.

The 11-12 swimmers were led by Eric Phelps (12) who contributed 13 points to the team. Other top point scorers were Garrett Shafer (11) and Paije Fenderson (12) each earning 9 points. Thor Burr (12) had impressive time drops of over 5 seconds in both the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly.

Beck Mclean (13) and Alex Dimarzio (14) posted the most points in the 13-14 age group. Mclean also had a big time drop of 13.37 seconds in his 200 free. Michele Young (13) and Kaitlyn Callahan (14) achieved new best times as well.

In the 15 and over age group, Cook contributed the most points for the team with Sarah Sundius (17) being the next highest point earner. Owen Sanborn (16) was able to achieve a new personal best time in the 100 backstroke by dropping 10.53 seconds in the event.

The team will be back in the pool the weekend of February 1 and 2 at UNH.
