The Inter-Lakes swim team hit the water in Concord Friday night against, Bow, Concord, Bishop Brady, Stevens and Gilford High Schools. All the swimmers came away with some successful swims.
On the boys' team, the growth to two swimmers this season has created a friendly competition between the two team members, which was clear to see as they swam next to each other in the 50 freestyle event. In the end though, Matthew Sundius got the edge with an 8th place finish and Ben Jaques finished 9th. Matthew continued his successful night by grabbing 3rd place in the 100 Backstroke with a new personal best time of 1:10.16, earning him a qualifying time for the State Championship meet. Ben grabbed a 10th place finish in the 100 Freestyle.
On the girls' side, each had a moment to shine. Pauline Donaldson swam very strong achieving a new personal best time of 54.40 in the 50 Freestyle and in the 100 Freestyle swam close to her best time of last season. Elisabeth Hutchins swam into 7th place in both her swims in the 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Elisabeth also achieved a new personal best time of 1:14.02 in the 100 Freestyle. Sarah Sundius took 1st in the 100 Breaststroke and 2nd with a new personal best time of 2:31.23 in the 200 Individual Medley.
The other highlight of the evening was to see the camaraderie among the Inter-Lakes and the Gilford swimmers. They were all seen cheering and supporting on the swimmers of both teams. The Lakers with hit the pool again on Sunday, Jan. 26th at the Bobcat Invitational at UNH.
