The Belmont-Gilford Bulldogs (5-0) remain perfect after handing Portsmouth (3-1-1) their first loss of the season 8-3 Wednesday night. Belmont-Gilford has averaged five and a half goals per game and a victory margin of four goals per game, in the first five games of the year. The Bulldogs will host Moultonborough-Inter-Lakes tomorrow night and head to John-Stark-Hopkinton on Monday.
Laconia-Winnisquam squandered a two goal lead with less than five minutes remaining to John-Stark-Hopkinton and ended up taking an 8-6 loss. The Wolfpack, still shorted handed defensively, dropped their third game in a row to Berlin 5-1 on Wednesday. Lac-Winn will attempt to snap the three game skid Saturday at Manchester Wesst at 4:30. The Wolfpack's only win of the season came against Manchester West in December. On Monday they will host Kennett at the Laconia Ice Arena at 1:10.
Laconia (4-2) beat a strong Gilford team on Jan. 10, proving that they can compete this season in the NHIAA Division III rankings. Friday night the Sachems Held off the Golden Eagles for a 67-62 victory. On Tuesday the Sachems hosted Division II Plymouth Regional. The Bobcats disposed of the Sachems 65-41. Laconia will resume DIII play tonight at Franklin (2-3).
Gilford (4-2) could not return to their winning ways after Laconia, dropping the second game of the season to Winnisquam on Tuesday evening 57-50. The Golden Eagles are in Berlin tonight and host Franklin on Tuesday. Gilford beat Franklin in the season opener 48-42.
Inter-Lakes (1-4) recorded their first win of the season Monday night, beating Moultonborough 53-51. The Lakers are home tonight vs Prospect Mountain and travel up the road to Moultonborough for a rematch of Monday's game.
Other local action this week will see Belmont (1-4) hosting Mascoma Valley tonight and traveling to Newfound on Tuesday. Winnisquam (4-2) will host Raymond on Tuesday.
Inter-Lakes (1-6) snapped a six game losing streak Wednesday night, beating Moultonborough 44-37. The Lakers secured a victory on a night they were raising money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. The night was to honor former student, Cameron Coulstring, who lost her battle with bone cancer two years ago. The Lakers will look to build upon the success tonight at Prospect Mountain and at Moultonborough on Wednesday night.
The Sachems won both games this past week, winning in Gilford 45-39 and at Plymouth 47-41. Laconia will host Franklin tonight.
Friday night will also see Gilford at Berlin and Mascoma Valley at Belmont. Wednesday has Gilford at Belmont and Winnisquam hosting Franklin.
