Round-up: Both LHS boys' & girls' basketball teams looking to better .500 record

After a semi-final loss to Gilford in the Lakes Region Holiday Basketball Tournament 56-47, Laconia boys' team will resume regular season play tonight in Meredith. The 1-1 Sachems visit 0-2 Inter-Lakes in one of two Lakes Region matchups. Winnisquam (1-1) will play host to 2-0 Gilford tonight in the other battle.

Monday, Inter-Lakes will travel to Berlin, Gilford hosts Newfound, and Laconia will host Franklin.

Belmont resumes play on Tuesday when the team will host Holiday Tournament champs Prospect Mountain.

Girls' basketball

On the girls' side, Laconia is coming off a runner up finish in the Holiday Tournament, in which the team lost to newly crowned champion Newfound. The Sachems (2-2) will make their third attempt to climb above .500 this season tonight as they host an 0-5 Inter-Lakes squad. The Sachems will travel to Franklin on Monday. Tonight will also see Winnisquam at Gilford.

Inter-Lakes will host Berlin and Gilford takes on Newfound on Monday night. Belmont returns to action on Tuesday in Alton against Prospect Mountain.


Laconia-Winnisquam will try to keep the scoring surge going tomorrow afternoon, when the team will host the Belmont-Gilford Bulldogs. The Wolfpack (1-1) have scored 13 goals over the first two games of the season. The high powered offense is led by co-captains Matt Missert and Dakota Tyno. Both seniors had a hat trick in the win over Manchester West. Belmont-Gilford (1-0) has a solid offense of its own, beating Kennett 6-2 in the season opener. Moultonborough-Inter-Lakes (0-2) has been held scoreless in the first two games. The Renegades will face off against Kearsarge at the Laconia Ice Arena tomorrow night.
