To The Daily Sun,
Interlakes Community Caregivers needs your help.
You hear about the graying of America, you know of people who are coping with an aging parent, and you read about the demographics of the region. But maybe the reality hasn't ever really struck you. If not, it probably will, as we all need some help at some point in our lives.
Interlakes Community Caregivers Inc. provides non-medical supportive services and information for our neighbors to assist them in their daily lives. Our organization is involved in helping people remain independent in their own homes. We refer to those we serve as "neighbors" as we work from the premise of "neighbors helping neighbors." Although our services are available to those of any age in the communities of Meredith, Center Harbor, Moultonborough and Sandwich, nearly half our neighbors are 80 years of age or older. The number of neighbors is more than three times the number of current volunteers, and the demand for services is increasing.
That's where you come in. We need volunteers in many areas, and particularly need help with the following:
— Drivers to take our neighbors to medical appointments, shopping, etc.
— Coordinators to match service requests with available volunteers.
— Volunteers to run errands or pick-up items to deliver to our neighbors.
— Volunteers to provide friendly visits and check-in calls.
— Office volunteers to help with administrative tasks.
Any assistance you can give us will be greatly appreciated: please, don't hesitate to respond because you think you don't have enough time as you may volunteer when it fits your schedule.
