To the editor, My name is Stacie Marie Laughton, formerly Barry C Laughton. I know this will come as a surprise to the citizens of Laconia but I have decided to run again for Ward 3 City Counselor. To the editor, My name is Stacie Marie Laughton, formerly Barry C Laughton. I know this will come as a surprise to the citizens of Laconia but I have decided to run again for Ward 3 City Counselor. I have changed quite a bit since my last bid for office, most notably my name, which still is Barry Laughton, but I use the name Stacie now. I have had a rocky last couple of years but I have definitely changed for the better and I have a new outlook on life and the future of Laconia. Let me tell you some of the things that I would like to do if elected. I would reduce spending and encourage the city to purchase hybrid vehicles and sell off the existing fleet of gas guzzling vehicles. I would also encourage property owners to reduce the high cost of rent in the downtown area to encourage businesses to return to the downtown area. I would also encourage a lift on the ban on smoking in our public parks and I would never support anything that would hinder our rights and civil liberties. I would also like to tell the people that, yes, I have made mistakes in my personal life but I have paid my debt to society and I believe that through that it has made me stronger and it should not damage my ability to be a City Counselor. And I ask the people of Laconia to ask questions to me so that they may know both sides of the story due to the fact that the press likes to tell only one side of what goes on. I am capable and qualified to be a City Counselor. I also have been watching what has been going on in the city and I do not like it and I do not think that the current Ward 3 City Counselor has been making good sound decisions or good sound financial decisions for the city of Laconia and I know that I can do better and make better decisions for the city.
