Mark Hormell, 57

ASHLAND — Mark Hormell, 57, of Ashland, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Community Hospice House, in Merrimack, NH with his loving wife by his side after a courageous year and a half battle with Leukemia.

Born on October 31, 1955, in Melrose, MA, he was the son of Robert S. and Catherine (McManuis) Hormell. Mark was raised in Melrose, attended local schools and graduated from the Melrose High School, Class of '73. Mark went on to attend the University of Maine – Orono, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1977 and completed a year at UMO's grad school in '78. Mark was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Mark went on to work for the Timco Co. starting in 1981 and became controller in 1984; he was the youngest controller ever in the company. He spent most of his career at Timco working there for 19 years before its closing in 2003. Mark spent many years after Timco's closing at various accounting jobs, but most recently with Freudenberg NOK, in Northfield, as a controller for a little over a year.

Mark enjoyed many hobbies including: photography, carpentry/woodworking, traveling, enjoyed many styles of music, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mark was a member of the Ashland Baptist Church.

Mark is predeceased by his parents and sister, Jane Kiah.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Patricia Ann (Norwood) Hormell, of Ashland; two daughters, Jennifer Stearns and husband Brian, of Raleigh, NC, Sarah Groleau and husband David, of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Calla Mae and Rowan Groleau, of St. Augustine, FL; brothers, Robert G. Hormell, of Center Harbor and George Hormell, of Belmont.

A celebration of life will be held at Mayhew Funeral Home (Rtes 3 and 104), Meredith, on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2 p.m.. Rev. Dave Doyle will officiate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02115 or the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054.

C. Richard Buckman, 79

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — C. Richard "Dick" Buckman, 79, of Palm Harbor, Fla. passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan; a son Jeffrey Richard Buckman and his wife Beth of Warren, Vt. a daughter, Lori Buckman Vonachen and her husband Bill of Framingham, Mass.; 3 grandchildren, Colby, Caroline and Mitch Vonachen; 2 brothers, David Buckman and his wife Leigh of Gilford, N.H. and Don Buckman and his wife Elaine of Clayton, N.C.; and a sister, Marsha Wilder of Manchester, N.H.

A longtime resident of Belknap Mountain Road in Gilford, Dick worked in the advertising department at The Laconia Evening Citizen from 1959 to 1994. For three decades he was the highly successful director of that department.
Dick enjoyed many activities throughout his life. He was an avid New England sports fan and relished watching the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. His competitive spirit led him to also participate in many sports, including golf, skiing, basketball, and was known as an 'ace' tennis player. Dick has a special affinity with animals and always had his beloved 'Bruno' by his side. Mostly, he will be remembered for his devilish sense of humor that brought endless fun and laughter to our lives.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2013 at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 2550 Highlands Blvd, N, Palm Harbor, Fl. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Suncoast Hospice or The Pinellas County Humane Society.

Havana E. O'Flaherty, 2

BELMONT — Havana Eve O'Flaherty, 2, of 5 Village Apartment Rd., died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

She was born on March 15, 2011 in Concord, the daughter of Joe O'Flaherty and Crystal Case. Known as Little Miss Havana Eve, a 2 ½ year old that had a smile of gold and eyes that sparkled like diamonds. Her contagious laugh always had people in smiles. Havana, not the average 2 year old, was very well mannered, smart and always happy. She enjoyed dancing, singing, reading stories and playing with children of all ages. She had a connection with animals that one could not describe. She was the perfect toddler that everyone adored. Havana attended Heavenly Sunshine Daycare in Belmont.

She is survived by her mother, Crystal Case of Belmont, her father, Joe O'Flaherty of Laconia, her maternal grandparents Denise A. Potter of Gilford and Raymond L. Case of York, Maine, her paternal grandparents Thomas E. O'Flaherty of Portsmouth and Panama and Ginny Boyd of Gilmanton I.W., her maternal great grandmother, Diane Potter of Laconia, her paternal great grandmother, Mary E. Boyd of Wallingford, CT, her six uncles; Derek R. Case and his partner Kimberly Mignosa of Elliot, Maine, Danny W. Case of Franklin, Joseph A. White of Gilford, Jeffrey Quinn and his partner Amanda Gurley of Derry, Teo O'Flaherty and his partner Gillian Murphy of Oakland, CA and Noah O'Flaherty of Laconia, her two aunts; Libby O'Flaherty and her partner Tyler Meeks of Livingston, MT, Aniko Robbins and her husband Scott of Meredith, cousins Samuel, Stella, Ezekial, Naven, Laycee, Aiden, Abby, Brandon, Dominic and Serenity. She was predeceased by her sister, Daelynn Case-O'Flaherty in 2006 and maternal grandfather Joseph M White and her maternal great grandparents; Barbara Case, William Case and Richard "Dick" Potter.

Calling hours will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Belmont, 49 Church Hill, Belmont. Burial will be private.

Evelyn G. Richelson, 89

PLYMOUTH — Evelyn G. Richelson, 89, formerly of Randolph St. peacefully passed away on October 10, 2013 at 2 a.m. at Peabody Home in Franklin, NH.

Evelyn was born in Boston, MA on September 24, 1924, one of five children of Morris Haverback and Tillie (Fiman) Haverback of Haverhill, MA. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother Jack. She grew up in Haverhill, graduated from Haverhill High School in 1942, and went on to attend Hebrew College in Boston. Upon graduation, she became a teacher at Temple Emanu-El in Haverhill.

In 1952, Evelyn married Irwin Richelson of Plymouth, NH, and moved to Plymouth where her husband was a partner in his family's long-established business, Richelson's Department Store. She became involved with the business helping out as clothing buyer, sales person and bookkeeper, and was often seen jogging in her dress shoes on her way to work, greeting neighbors on her way. She continued working until the store closed in 1992. She and Irwin were married for 51 years, until his passing in 2003.

In addition to being devoted to raising three sons and actively participating in Richelson's store, Evelyn also contributed much to the community life of Plymouth. She served as vice-president of the Junior Woman's Club and Treasurer of the Pemigewasset Woman's Club. She also served as an adviser to the Order of Rainbow for Girls under her membership in the Bethlehem chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid supporter of the Plymouth Lions Club, attending meetings with Irwin and helping out at many of their functions. Evelyn worked as chairperson of fund-raising drives for a number of organizations, including the Heart Fund, Cancer Fund and the Cancer Commission for Grafton County Unit East. In addition, she assisted in the Sceva Speare Memorial Hospital membership drive.

She was also quite active as a leader in Plymouth Cub Scout Pack 56, serving as a den mother for a number of years. In August, 1966, Evelyn was featured in the New Hampshire Sunday News as Cook of the Week, sharing several of her successful Club and family recipes.

Evelyn had a passion for the arts, especially painting, drawing and music. During the 1940s, she played violin and piano in duet with her sister Harriet, as they performed at venues around the Greater Haverhill, MA area. In the 1960s, she wrote a Boy Scout song which was chosen to be published in the International Boy Scout Song Book. From the 1970s to the early 1990s, she sang in the New Hampshire Music Festival Symphonic Chorus, which performed along with its Symphonic Orchestra throughout New Hampshire. Evelyn always looked forward to the annual trip that she and Irwin made to his WWII Coast Guard reunion. She shared in his pride and remembrances of his service, and happily anticipated continuing the life-long friendships made at the reunions.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Gary and his wife Linda of Derry, NH, Paul and his fiancé Julie of New Hampton, NH, and Bradley and his wife Susan of Framingham, MA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Caitlin Jacobs of Lowell, MA, Michael Richelson of Derry, NH, Tyler Richelson of Derry, NH, Sarah Richelson of Quincy, MA, and Margo Richelson of Framingham, MA. In addition, she is survived by her sister Harriet Sandler of Bowie, MD, her brother Dr. Chester Haverback of Bethesda, MD and her sister Rose Haverback of Boston, MA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Plymouth. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Goodwin Funeral Home, 507 Chestnut St., Manchester, NH. Cantor Claire Metzger will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Manchester Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in memory of Mrs. Richelson be made to Peabody Home Employees Fund, c/o Peabody Home, 24 Peabody Place, Franklin, NH 03235.
