Janis N. Evans, 59

FRANKLIN — Janis N. Evans, 59, of 21 Pleasant Street, died Monday, August 26, 2014 at Laconia Rehabilitation Center. She was a free spirit and will be greatly be missed by all.

She was born on December 9, 1954 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the daughter of John Jr. and Ruth (Madeline) Dawe.

She is survived by her two sisters; Ruth Petrini of Meredith and Leisa Newbegin of Center Ossipee, her longtime companion, Timothy Smith of Franklin, two nieces, Michele and Alisea, three nephews, Johnny, Keith and Jason. and her beloved cat, Jack. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Dawe III.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be private.

Mark R. Mauzy, II, 38

BELMONT — Mark Robert Mauzy II, 38, of 19 Holiday Lane, died at his home on 
Thursday, August 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Mauzy was born June 13, 1976 in Manchester, N.H., the son of Donna (Potter) and Mark Robert Mauzy I. He resided in Londonderry before moving to Belmont thirty-two years ago. He was a perfectionist as a metal roofer for eighteen years and had been employed at Vutex in Meredith for two years. He owned and operated the Galaxy Gym in Belmont as well as the Hot Dog Stand, Mauz Dawgz.
Mr. Mauzy always enjoyed starting new projects at home, making scooters, metal pinwheels and garden boxes. Stacey got him started in gardening six years ago and he took it to another level. He enjoyed kayaking and loved, Jawzie, his bulldog.
Mr. Mauzy was an amazing father to his three little girls. From Stacey and the girls, "Mark, we will forever love you". He was loving to his fiancée, friends and family. His family will always hold him close and he will never be forgotten.
Survivors include his daughters, Melana Marie Mauzy, Rylie Nicole Sylvia and Alahni Lee Mauzy; his mother, Donna Mauzy; his stepfather, Robert Arthur Benwell, Jr.; his fiancée, Stacey White; two sisters, Jamie Lee Martinez and Katrina T. Benwell; nieces, Sophia Lee Benwell, Trinity Lee Martinez and Sierra Martinez; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his in-laws, Richard and Candy Carlson. He was predeceased by his father, Mark R. Mauzy I, by his aunts, Debra Mauzy and Tami Jo Bull, and his second cousin, Havana Eve O'Flattery.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 3 to 6 p.m., with a Time of Reflection at 4:30 p.m., in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

Catherine J. McGarry, 90

MEREDITH — Catherine J. McGarry, 90, of Meredith, passed away peacefully at Forestview Manor, on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Catherine was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on November 17, 1923; she was the twin daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth (Armstrong) McGarry. She was raised in Brooklyn where she attended local schools.

Before relocating to Meredith, Catherine worked as a telephone operator, school crossing guard, and as a switchboard operator. Upon moving to Meredith she helped her daughter Pat at the Meredith Station Mobil for several years where she was known affectionately by the customers as "Mom".

Catherine enjoyed many fun camping trips with her family throughout her life; at Forestview she loved to play Bingo and dancing when musical entertainment was scheduled. Catherine was a very kind and outgoing individual who was loved by all who met her. She was extremely proud of being from Brooklyn, N.Y. as well as her Irish heritage.

She was predeceased by her first husband Albert J. Palmer, in 1962, and her second husband, William H. McGarry, Jr., in 2001; brother, John McGarry, and sister, Sister Joan Therese McGarry, CSJ.

Surviving family members include her twin sister, Gertrude Davignon, of West Springfield, Mass.; son, Kevin T. Palmer and wife Wendy, of Granby, Mass.; daughter, Mary E. Nadeau and husband Richard, of Chicopee, Mass.; daughter, Patricia A. Wade and husband Charles, of Meredith; grandchildren, Matthew and Kristen Palmer, of Granby, Mass., Nathan and David Nadeau, of Chicopee, Mass., and Joshua and Tyler Wade, of Meredith; she is also survived by several nephews.

Catherine's family will be forever grateful to the staff at Forestview Manor for the tender loving care that they provided Mom for the past five years, as well as Dr. Suarez and the staff at the S.P.S. Unit at LRGH and Central NH VNA & Hospice for the care and compassion that they also provided.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mayhew Funeral Home (Rte. 3 & Cataldo Rd.), Meredith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. The Very Rev. Dennis J. Audet, V.F., Pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery, in Holyoke, Mass. and will be announced at the time of services.

Joseph M. Komlos, 76

MOULTONBOROUGH — Joseph Michael Komlos, 76, of Moultonborough, passed away on Saturday August 30, 2014, at the Mountain View Community in Ossipee, N.H. Joseph was born in Bridgeport, Conn. on March 10, 1938. He was the eldest son of Michael and Anna (Guman) Komlos.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Doane) Komlos of Moultonborough, his daughter, Kathleen Komlos Knapp and her husband Ted of Southbury, Conn.; 2 brothers, Robert Komlos and his wife Kathy of Huntington, Conn. and Michael Komlos of Milford, Conn.; several nieces, great nieces and great nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his parents.

Joseph grew up and attended school in Bridgeport, Conn. After school he worked as a mechanic and enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve in 1957. He was called to active duty in October 1961 and served until May 1963.

Joseph was a volunteer firefighter with the Monroe Volunteer Fire Dept, and later the Coventry, Conn. Volunteer Fire Department. After he moved to Upstate N.Y., he volunteered for the West Chazy, Fire Department, where he served for 17 years. He also served as an EMT for 5 years. He was especially proud of working on the recovery effort after the ice storm of 1998.

Joseph worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 17 years, as a territory sales manager then a retail store manager. Joseph then opened his own cabinet shop for several years. He loved wood working and made kitchen cabinets, bedroom furniture, desks and matching file cabinets. He also worked at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y., for 12 years before retiring in 2003.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 93 Route 25, Meredith, NH 03253.

A memorial service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the United Congregational Church, 877 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, Conn.

Donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the Moultonborough Fire Department/Rescue Squad, 1035 Whittier Highway, Moultonborough, NH 03254.
