LACONIA — Ruth P (Phelps) Stevens, 90, formerly of New Hampton, and Belleview, Fla., died peacefully at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia, on Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was the widow of David B. Stevens who passed away in August 2013.

Ruth was born on June 16, 1923 in Greenfield, Mass., where she went to school, and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1941. She was the daughter of Everett Phelps and Antoinette (Masse) Phelps.

During World War II, she worked at the Greenfield Tap & Die Co. In 1946 she married David and they raised their five children in the Mount Hermon section of Gill, Mass.

Upon their retirement in 1979, they moved to New Hampton where they lived on Oxbow Road and Sky Pond Road. Later, Ruth and David moved to Florida where they spent many years in Belleview and Summerfield, Fla., returning to New Hampshire in 2009.

Ruth was an avid gardener and loved to play cards and listen to all kinds of music. She especially liked the music programs at the nursing home. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by four siblings, brothers, Riley Phelps and Harvey Phelps, and sisters, Anna Johnson and Ada Field.

She is survived by three sons, Daniel R Stevens and wife, Joyce of Bristol, Bruce D Stevens and wife, Stacy of New Hampton, and Gary R. Stevens and wife, Rhonda of Warren; two daughters, Beverly J. Butterfield and companion, Ed Stout of Summerfield, Fla., and Elizabeth E Gross and husband, Gordon of Henderson, Nev. She also leaves one sister, Doris Cutting of Brattleboro, Vt., eight grandchildren, Brian Stevens, Kevin Stevens, Quincy Stevens Gunn, Gordon Gross, Jr, Katy Gross, Corilynn Gross, Kala Stevens and Austin Stevens, 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Belknap County Nursing Home for their friendship and compassionate care over the past three years.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside burial service will be scheduled at a later date at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, where she will be buried with her husband of 67 years, David B. Stevens.

NORTHFIELD — Jane M. LaBelle, 71, of Northfield, passed away in her home on May 5, 2014, after bravely battling pancreatic and liver cancer.

Jane is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bob LaBelle; and her two children, Diane Burchard of Florida and James LaBelle of North Carolina. She is also survived by her four siblings, Bette Ward of California, Dennis Carignan of Tennessee, Marie Carignan of Oregon and David Carignan of New Hampshire. Jane also leaves behind eight grandchildren Brandon, Cherish, Nathaniel, Caleb, Nicholas, Kinsley, Kelsey and Samantha.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish at Franklin, 110 School St., in Franklin. Burial at the State Veterans Cemetery will be private.

MEREDITH — Roberta Anne Boynton, 74, of 125 Livingston Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Thursday, May 8, 2014.

Mrs. Boynton was born Oct. 3, 1939 in Laconia, the daughter of the late Bertha (Benoit) and Lorenzo "Larry" Beaudoin.

She was raised in Laconia and had been a resident of Virginia for more than 30 years before returning to Laconia. She had been employed by the Lakes Region General Hospital as a LNA for a number of years.

Mrs. Boynton was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks 876 and was a member of the Rebekahs in Ashland and also a member of the Meredith Center Grange.

Survivors include her husband, Lester W. Boynton, of Meredith; a son, Roy Vanover, of Reidsville, Ga.; two daughters, Tina Handerson of Grayson, Ga., and Lisa Paulson of Holbrook, Mass.; a stepson, Daniel Boynton, of Danbury; a stepdaughter, Teresa Girlets, of Vale, N.C.; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Beaudoin, of Laconia; one niece and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boynton was predeceased by a son, Shawn Tobey; two daughters, Bonnie Tobey and Karen Cassavaugh; and a brother, Robert Beaudoin.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Andre Bessette Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia. Burial will follow in the family lot at Green Grove Cemetery, Ashland.

Bradford Butler, 83

BELMONT — Bradford F. Butler, 83, of Belmont, died at his home on Monday, May 5, 2014.

Mr. Butler was born July 16, 1930, in Newton, Mass., the son of the late Leonard W. and Emily (Fuller) Butler.

Mr. Butler served in the Army. He resided in Portland, Maine, before moving to Laconia in 1961 and later to Belmont.

He was employed by Truesdale Company in Boston for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Mr. Butler was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church, and the Laconia Athletic Club.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lois K. Butler, of Belmont; a son, David L. Butler, of Bedford; two daughters and their husbands, Janet E. Butler of Raymond, and Diane J. Butler of Scarborough, Maine; two grandchildren, Paul and Jeffrey; a sister, Elizabeth Scott, of Naples, Fla.; two nieces and three nephews.

Friends and family are invited to meet for a Celebration of Life on May 17, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Belmont. Burial will be in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Falmouth, Maine, at a later date.
