William E. Grant, 85

GILFORD — William E. Grant, 85, of 136 Watson Road, #10, died at his home on March 18, 2014.

Mr. Grant was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Brockton, Mass., the son of the late Frederick and Nora (Donahue) Grant. He served in the Army, and was a longtime resident of Massachusetts and Florida before moving to Gilford.

He had been employed at Nynex (formerly New England Telephone and Verizon) for 33 years.

Mr. Grant was a member of the American Legion Post 19 of Somerville, Mass.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Rosemarie (Caliri) Grant of Gilford; four sons, William Grant Jr. and his wife, Paula, of North Andover, Mass., Joseph Grant and his wife, Patricia, of Tyngsboro, Mass., Robert Grant of Stoneham, Mass., and John Grant and his wife, Tammy, of Everett, Mass.; four grandchildren, Karen Young, Steven Grant, Patrick Grant and Daniel O'Brien; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Cormier of  Stoneham, Mass., Barbara Osgood of Carver, Mass., and Virginia McKenna of Saugus, Mass., and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Grant was predeceased by a son, Daniel Grant, in 1984; by a daughter, Margaret Grant, on Jan. 22, 2014; a brother, Frederick Grant Jr.; and a sister, Ruth Perantoni.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. Burial, will military honors, will follow at 1 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
