Mary 'May' Prior, 91

MEREDITH — Mary "May" Prior, 91 of 21 Upper Mile Point Road, Meredith, died Tuesday, January, 28th, peacefully at Lakes Region General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born on July 10, 1922 at her grandmother's home in Kilburny, Scotland, she was the daughter of James and Mary (Cochrane) Jackson. May grew up in Flint, MI, where she met and married her late husband of 59 years, Jerry Prior. They raised their four children in Flint before relocating to the Lakes Region in NH in 1998 to be closer to family.

May embraced life fully and was happiest when in the presence of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her various hobbies, a good card game, and challenging crossword puzzles and boy could she make a pie! May was a passionate reader and passed on her love of books to her children and grandchildren. May led by example and saw her family through many difficult times, always with strength and dignity.

May is predeceased by her devoted husband, Jerry Prior, beloved daughter, DeeAnne Stein, sister Ann Burke, and brother, James Jackson. She is survived by her brother John Jackson of Brighton, MI, her sons, Fred Prior and partner, Diana Griffith, of Frederick, CO, Mark Prior and his partner Karen Roney of Aurora, CO, her daughter, Dawn Coleman of Meredith, NH, sons-in-Law, Nicholas Stein of New Albany, IN, and John Coleman of Portsmouth, NH, seven grandchildren, Katherine Conley, Amy Stein, Nicholas Stein Jr, Jillian Coleman Croteau, Adrienne Coleman, Alan Prior and Austin Prior, and four great grandchildren, Joseph Conley, Theodore Conley, Conrad Wheat, and Maeve Croteau.
There will a celebration of May's life at Center Harbor Christian Church, 80 Bean Rd. Center Harbor, NH 03226 on Saturday February 1, 2014 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at Meredith Bay Colony Club 21 Upper Mile Point Rd, Meredith, NH where a light lunch will be served.
