Armand 'Pappy' Laramie, 75

BELMONT — Armand "Pappy" C. Laramie, 75, of 18 Mountain View Terrace, died in the very early morning hours on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, his children at his side.

Pappy was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Laconia, the son of the late Phylis E. (Burke) and Armand J. Laramie and was a longtime resident of Laconia. He served in the Army from 1959-1960. He had been employed at Cote Brothers and J.J. Nissen for more than 40 years, where he retired.

Pappy was a former baseball coach for the Laconia Babe Ruth Baseball League.

In his younger days he played golf and participated in candlepin bowling, where he was one of the best in the state. He enjoyed watching all sports on television, but was especially a huge Boston sports fan. Later in life he enjoyed trips to the casinos and the ocean, going out to eat and faithfully played the lottery.

For those who knew him, he will be remembered most for the devoted husband and father that he was.

Survivors include his wife, Linda A. (Reese) Laramie, of Belmont; a daughter, Kelly Laramie, and her partner in life, Eric Saunders, of Laconia; a son, Mark Laramie, and his companion, Joanne Beaune, of Belmont; the mother of his children, Jeannette (Guay) VanHagen, of Belmont; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Linda Laramie, Mike and Sue Laramie and Norman and Amanda Laramie, all of Laconia; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Nerada and Donald Prescott of Meredith, Sherry and Tim Pickel of Meredith, Barbara and Bill MacDonald of Ashland, and Gail and Gary Lindholm of Havelock, N.C., and many nephews and nieces.

Pappy was predeceased by his parents and his beloved cat, Fritz.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Andre Bessette Parish at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield St., Laconia.
