Nicholas G. Selesky, 91

ALTON BAY — Nicholas Gregory Selesky, age 91, died January 1, 2014 quietly at home, in the afternoon, with his children by his side.

Born March 28, 1922, the son of Gregory and Pauline Selesky, he grew up and went to school and graduated in Providence, RI. After high school, he attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but midway through, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, shortly after WWII broke out. When the war ended, he went to work for Hamilton Standard Propeller Co. based in Westerly, RI, as a mechanic, which is what he had been trained and did while in the service. Within a couple of years, he went to work for Northeast Airlines as a mechanic, where he stayed for about 25 years.

He married Eleanor (Suchinetz) Selesky in 1948 and they established their home in Winchester, MA. After 10 years, their first son Gregg was born and within 2 years, the birth of their second son Paul and then their daughter Sandra. The family lived in Winchester until 1972, when Northeast Airlines was bought by Delta Airlines and they had to relocate to Lithonia, GA. He retired in 1984, the family moved to Alton Bay, NH, where they had vacationed many years, until present.

Predeceased by his wife Eleanor Selesky in 2003, he is survived by their children: son Gregg and wife Bethany Selesky and their 6 children: Andrea, Alan, Micah, Quinn, Mya, Naomi and expecting #7: Selesky, son Paul Selesky, daughter Sandra Jayne Bartlett and her 3 children: Jason Moreau, Anna Moreau and Bruce Bartlett.

He loved his children and grandchildren very much and would do anything for them. Paul had been living with dad and assisting him, as his health declined. Sandy and her children live in Tilton, NH and frequently would visit and look in on dad. Gregg, Bethany and children live in Laconia and visited often.

Until his passing, he was sharp as a tack and could remember things from his childhood.
