By GINGER KOZLOWSKI, LACONIA DAILY SUN LACONIA — It was 1916 when Freda Margaret (Heffer) Whittemore was born in Partridge Green, Sussex, England. The Aug. 13 baby celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 19 at the Taylor Community, complete with a proclamation by Laconia Mayor Ed Engler naming the day Freda Whittemore Day in Laconia. Roger ‘Pops’ Brun, 85

GILFORD — Roger "Pops" Bruns passed away Aug. 27, 2016, after a brief decline in health. He was born in Flushing, New York, on Aug. 5, 1933. He served in the Army from 1953-1955 and graduated from New England College in 1959. He had a great love for his family and trains and enjoyed a good (or bad) pun.
