Burning pile of debris extinguished off Endicott Street North.

LACONIA — Firefighters from area communities spent about 90 minutes extinguishing a brush fire in the woods on Endicott Street North across from Cedar Lodge yesterday afternoon.

Fire Capt. Bob Landry said the fire burned a pile of brush, stumps, bark, and mulch that was about the size of a tennis court.

He said the fire occurred off an access road across from the motel and firefighters are unsure of what caused it.

Landry said the Laconia Department of Public Works brought a backhoe to the scene to knock down the pile of debris so firefighters could make sure all the embers were out.

Landry said yesterday was a Class 3 — or moderate — fire day.
