Muskrats survive 9th inning scare to beat Mystic 4-3

MYSTIC, Conn. — The Muskrats last night stayed within two games of first place Newport in the NECBL's Eastern Divison Race by beating Mystic on the road, 4-3. Laconia survived a 2-run rally by the Schooners in the bottom of the ninth.
Laconia has two more road games this week — at Ocean State on Wednesday and at Sanford, Maine on Thursday — before returning home to face Holyoke at Robbie Mills Field on Friday night.
Laconia is now 11-9 on the season and is holding down third place in the East.
Peter Lenstrohm (Tennessee) worked 7-2/3 strong innings to pick up the win for the Muskrats. He gave up just one run on 5 hits, striking out 6 and walking 2. Dylan Parker got the last out of the eighth and worked the troublesome ninth (3 runs on 2 hits — including 2 triples) but still got credit for a save. First baseman Ryan McBroom (West Virginia) and third baseman Taylor Drake (McNeese State) both homered for Laconia. Left fielder Jordan Lee (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) and catcher Carter White (Memphis) each had 2 hits.
