Lacrosse Sign-Ups held on Feb. 6

LACONIA — The Laconia Lacrosse Club will be holding an informational/sign-up meeting on Thursday, February 6 at 7 p.m. at the Laconia Community Center.

The club runs 8 teams, U-9, U-11, U-13 and U-15 for both boys and girls. Besides being from Laconia, teams are open to children from around the area, including Meredith, Tilton, Bristol, Center Harbor and New Hampton. Games will be played at the new Bank of New Hampshire Stadium and its artificial turf field.

The club also holds open gym for both boys and girls. Girls are at Laconia Middle School on Sundays at 6 p.m. Boys open gym is on Sunday nights at Laconia High. The U-9 and 11 go from 5-6:30 p.m., while U-13 & 15 goes from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for new players to come and try out the sport, and learn its basic skills, while for returning players, it gives them a chance to get ready for the upcoming season.

Coastal Harmony Sings for the Appalachian Mountain Teen Project

WOLFEBORO — The Coastal Harmony barbershop quartet will sing for the Appalachian Mountain Teen Project at All Saints Church in Wolfeboro on February 22. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the cost is $15.

Coastal Harmony is a fun-loving foursome that charms audiences with the classic American style of four-part, a cappella harmony.

At intermission, audience members will have the opportunity to meet AMTP staff, board members, parents, and participants, while enjoying light refreshments. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 pm.

Gilford Rotary hosting Four Way Speech Contest

GILFORD — Gilford Rotary will be sponsoring its inaugural Four Way Speech Contest this Thursday, February 6 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Gilford Middle High School Auditorium.

The Gilford Rotary Four Way Speech Contest is a competitive event where students present 5-7 minute speeches extemporaneously and are judged on their ability to convey the elements of the Rotary four way test. Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and better friendships? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Cash prizes will be awarded, and the three best competitors will move on to a regional contest.
