LACONIA — New Hampshire's Own Grammy Award-winning Guitarist Ed Gerhard returns on Saturday, December 6 for his Twenty-second Annual Christmas Guitar Concert at he Belknap Mill. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door.
Gerhard will perform a soulful arrangements of well-loved carols, as well as his own concert favorites. Fans of guitar music and Christmas alike will want to be a part of this memorable show. Gerhard returns celebrating the success of his latest CD "There and Gone," a collection of original compositions and covers including a stunning arrangement of "Imagine/Across the Universe," "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and a concert favorite on Weissenborn, "Killing the Blues." Gerhard was awarded a GRAMMY Award for his inclusion on the CD "Pink Guitar" a collection of Henry Mancini compositions. Gerhard's CD "Luna" was Chosen by Acoustic Guitar Magazine's 20th Anniversary List of 240 Essential Albums.

PLYMOUTH — The next installment of the Enterprise Center at Plymouth's (ECP) Small Business Start Up Series: Financing Your Business, will be held on Tuesday, December 2, from 8-10 a.m. in the large conference room at the ECP in Plymouth.
Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Counselor, Stewart Gates, as he explains how and where to obtain financing for that new venture. Stewart will discuss financial opportunities; the importance and use of a business plan; and the necessary documents all lenders require. Stewart will also cover some fundamental business equations and practices such as the break-even point and how to create projections.
The Small Business Start Up Series is an 8-part series of workshops designed to walk entrepreneurs and small business owners through the steps and stages of creating a business and or preparing to take their business to the next level. All workshops will take place at the Enterprise Center at Plymouth the first Tuesday of each month October through May (excluding January). Each segment will build upon the previous and attendees will have time between programs to implement the new material into a plan for their own business.
Attendees can choose one, several, or all of the workshops within the series. The goal for those who attend most or all of the programs is to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to begin or grow a business with a new plan. Taught by professors from Plymouth State University, area professionals, and counselors from the Small Business Administration, Small Business Development Center, and SCORE, these programs will focus on the fundamentals of goal setting, planning, research, and management while covering all the elements within a business plan and offer additional tips of the trade from experienced professionals.

LACONIA — Bank of New Hampshire recently traveled with 88 Prestige Plus customers and visited five of America's National Parks.
The tour began in Scottsdale, Arizona, and then headed north to Sedona with its amazing rock formations and artist colony, before ending at Lake Powell where the group visited the Glen Canyon Dam.
A highlight of the National Parks tour was the spectacular Grand Canyon, where Prestige Plus members enjoyed the rustic cabins on the North Rim and the beautiful sunset and sunrise offering magnificent views overlooking the canyon.
The next stop included two very distinct and equally beautiful National Parks, Zion and Bryce. Zion National Park takes you down into the park where the huge red and white sandstone cliffs rise above you in sheer magnitude and color. Bryce National Park in contrast is seen from the side of the cliffs and the formations, called Hoodoos, with their natural orange and red hues, are a beautiful sight that resembles castle spires.
Next was the beautiful "City of Saints," Salt Lake City where members enjoyed Temple Square and saw the 6-spired granite Salt Lake Temple. Prestige Plus members went on to enjoy a tour of downtown Salt Lake City and the Great Salt Lake.
From Utah, the tour entered Wyoming and the cowboy town of Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole is a mecca for shopping, art, river rafting and hiking. The trip would not be complete without a visit to Jackson's famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar with its iconic "saddle" bar stools.
Passing through the Grand Teton National Park was a highlight for the Prestige Plus members. The Grand Tetons rise to 13,770 feet and is the youngest range in the Rockies. The snow covered peaks of the Grand Tetons made for beautiful viewing and many photographs.
The final days of the National Parks tour traveled to the amazing Yellowstone National Park, where the group was greeted by the work-famous Old Faithful Geyser. The tour ended with a stay in South Dakota and visits to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, The Crazy Horse Monument and the great symbol of the United States, Mount Rushmore.

MEREDITH — The Meredith ASTRA Club will be creating a special "Magic and Mittens" children's event at the annual Altrusa Festival of Trees at Waukewan Golf Course on Saturday, December 6, at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. This event includes a tale all about "Lost Mittens" and a "Magic and Mittens" magic show. Admission to the Festival is $3 for adults, $2 for children (5 and under are free). Reservations are required by calling 253-3167.
As an added bonus this year, the ASTRA teens will be doing some of their own MAGIC by collecting new mittens and/or hats at the Festival to donate to the Meredith Village Savings Bank annual Mitten Tree. ASTRA will deliver the mittens and hats to Meredith Village Savings Bank who will distribute them to children and senior citizens. The ASTRA teens are excited about this collaborative effort of community service in partnership with the bank. Anyone attending the Festival of Trees Gala Thursday evening, December 4, or during the Festival daytime hours on December 5, 6 and 7, are invited to bring in new mittens and/or hats to help ASTRA create the MAGIC of many warm mittens and hats to adorn the MVSB Mitten Tree.
