LACONIA — The Board of Directors of Genesis Behavioral Health will hold their 48th Annual Meeting, "Changing Perceptions, Building Support," on Tuesday, October 28, at 5:30 pm at Pitman's Freight Room in Laconia.
John T. Broderick, Jr., former Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court and Dean of the University of New Hampshire School of Law, will provide the keynote address. He is the current Executive Director of the Warren B. Rudman Center and Warren B. Rudman Chair.
"Mental illness knows no barriers, follows no rules, and impacts families and the community," said Maggie Pritchard, Executive Director of Genesis Behavioral Health, "The reality of the illness is hard to imagine for those who have not lived it. We are honored to have John Broderick join us to deliver this message. New Hampshire is fortunate to have him as a champion for mental health awareness."
As is its tradition, Genesis Behavioral Health will present the 2014 Helen Holbrook Leadership and Service Award and the Dr. George "Pete" Harris Community Service Award at the Annual Meeting. The Holbrook Award is given to an individual who leads by example and gives of themselves to strengthen the cause of mental health in the Lakes Region, while the Harris Award is presented to an individual who promotes increased awareness, sensitivity, understanding and acceptance of mental health issues in the Lakes Region through educating the public.
Genesis Behavioral Health will also showcase its 4th annual fundraising and awareness auction at the event. "Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 to support mental health programs and services for over 3,600 Lakes Region residents," said Kristen Welch, Director of Development & Communications, "Auction items will be on display at the annual meeting and mobile bidding will be available for on-site bids. We are grateful for the support and generosity of our many donors and bidders. GILFORD — The Gilford Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring a Senior Moment-um program on Monday, October 27th. We will meet at the Community Church, Fellowship Hall at 11:30 a.m. as Grace Herbert shares her delicious caramel recipe. Participants should plan to bring a lunch and join us for this sweet treat. TILTON — Participating in the One Warm Coat program for the second year is the Brooks Brothers store at the Tanger Outlet. They will be collecting gently used coats for Santa Fund of The Greater Lakes Region from October 21st through October 27.
Donors will receive an additional 25% off a new outerwear item when they donate a gently worn coat at the local Brooks Brothers store. Some exclusions apply.
One Warm Coat is a national non-profit organization that assists in the donation of coats. One Warm Coat helps individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country collect coats and deliver them to local agencies that distribute them free, to people in need.
