Medieval knights program at Gilford Library Thurs.

GILFORD — On Thursday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gilford Library, long-time Gilford summer resident Leo J. Rogers will give an entertaining, light-hearted slide presentation about the lives and times of medieval knights, a look at Rogers’ extraordinary collection, and an anecdotal travelogue of his and his family’s pursuit of knights around the world for more than thirty years.

The presentation, entitled “A New Look at Knights of Old – and How They Besieged a Modern American Family, will be based on Rogers’ recently-published book, Lives and Times of Medieval Knights – Chronicles of a Motley Collection, and will include illustrations of “knightly attire” and knights’ “tools of the trade.”

The presentation will appeal to non-historians who are curious about the fascinating medieval period, and how some medieval customs persist even today. It will also appeal to anyone whose hobby is collecting, and whose families have learned to live with collectors’ idiosyncrasies. The presentation is free of charge.
