PLYMOUTH — The Silver Center for the Arts at Plymouth State University hosts professional actors from Jean's Playhouse Children's Theatre in Lincoln throughout the summer, presenting their repertoire of children's stories adapted for the stage. Performances are 2 p.m. each Thursday.
The production for July 3 is Rumpelstiltskin. Locked away in a tower room, the lovely miller's daughter has been ordered by the King to turn straw into gold. Impossible? Not with the help of one strange little man with a very peculiar name. But the man has his own list of demands in exchange for his help.
Additional Thursday afternoon performances include The Princess and the Pea performed on July 10, Beauty and the Beast on July 17, Excalibur! scheduled for July 24, Rikki Tikki Tavi shown on July 31, George and the Dragon performed on August 7, and Cinderella on August 14.
Jean's Playhouse's Children's Theatre Company has been delighting audiences for more than 20 years, with original adaptations of fairytales and folktales produced and created for children of all ages. Shows are approximately 40 minutes long and appeal to adults, and children three years and older. Characters greet the audience in the Silver Center lobby after each show.
