Inter-Lakes Alumni Gathering Draws 175

MEREDITH — The Meredith/ Inter-Lakes Alumni Association held it's 90th Annual Gathering on Sunday, June 1 with a capacity crowd of over 175 in attendance.

The Common Man Restaurant served a delicious buffet brunch to alumni and guests at beautiful Church Landing in Meredith.
During the social time, alumni and guests were able to reconnect with old friends and to browse the extensive collection of yearbooks that the association puts on display each year, as well as displays for each decade since 1924. There was also a display by the Class of 1964 in honor of their 50th Class Reunion and a power point for this class as well.
The most senior member to attend the gathering was Ruth Grappone from the Class of 1938, and the Class of 1954 had a good turnout in honor of their 60th Class Reunion.
The members of The Class of 1964 were the honored guests of The Alumni Association, celebrating their 50th Class Reunion, and there were 36 class members in attendance. They were introduced by MC Steve Ainsworth, and when they were given their 50 Year Certificates Steve shared some interesting information about each one from their high school years. The Alumni Association gave special recognition to the class member who traveled the farthest and this went to Deborah Molburg who came from Alaska to attend this 50th reunion.

The Class of '64 also chose to recognize two faculty members in attendance who had taught for many years at Inter-Lakes HS, and they were Ann Kershaw and Marge Lee. The Association also gave a special memorial recognition in their program to Jim Durkee, a long time teacher and coach at Inter-Lakes.
The three $1,000 Alumni Scholarships were presented at this time and they went to Jennifer Pelczar, Michael Johansen, and Jeffrey Ryan. The Alumni Loyalty Cup, which is the oldest award presented at Inter-Lakes High School, having been started in 1928 by the Alumni Association, was awarded to John Findlay.
Other business that came before the assembly was the election of officers for the following year. Elected were: Ann Sprague- President, Glen Quimby-Vice Pres., Sue Ashey- Treasurer, and Sylvia Detscher- Secretary. Board members elected for a three year term were Vynnie Hale, and Rob Weeks.
The Alumni Association would like to say a special thank you to all the businesses that took on the alumni's "90 for 90 Challenge" in honor of this 90th Anniversary year.
