Gerry Boudoin Trio playing Pitman’s on Thursday

LACONIA — The Gerry Beaudoin Trio featuring sax player Harry Allen will perform Thursday at 8 p.m. at Pitman's Freight Room.

Meeting at a concert in 2009 Beaudoin and Allen found an instant musical camaraderie and respect for each other's music. That turned into a recording session months later. The Gerry Beaudoin Trio: The Return with Harry Allen was the result of a that chance meeting in 2009. Gerry comments, "Harry is the perfect foil for me and my music," says Beaudoin. "Songs from the Return" were placed on the Grammy Awards ballot in three different categories.

Beaudoin has carved out a career as a guitarist, arranger, composer, educator and recording artist. He was the founder of the Boston Jazz Ensemble and The New Guitar Summit which featured Gerry "Jay" Geils of J.Geils Band fame and blues icon Duke Robillard.

Tenor saxophonist Harry Allen has performed at jazz festivals and clubs worldwide, frequently touring the United States, Europe and Asia. He has performed or recorded with Rosemary Clooney, Ray Brown, Hank Jones, Frank Wess, Flip Phillips, Scott Hamilton, Harry 'Sweets' Edison, Kenny Burrell, Herb Ellis, John Pizzarelli, Bucky Pizzarelli, Jeff Hamilton, Warren Vache, and has recorded with Tony Bennett, Johnny Mandel, Ray Brown, Tommy Flanagan, JamesTaylor and Cheryl Crow.

The current Gerry Beaudoin Trio features two long time players in Gerry's musical orbit, acoustic bassist Brad Hallen and young vibraphone phenomena Gerard V. Beaudoin III.

Pitman's will offer its catered dinner buffet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for $10. For information and reservations, call 527-0043 or 494-3334.
