Local author guest reader at Alton library Friday

ALTON — Local author & illustrator Cheryl Bloser will be guest reader at Children's Story time at the Gilman Library on Friday, June 6 at 9:15 a.m. Cheryl published her first book forty years later than she had anticipated. As a high school student four decades ago, she was strongly encouraged by her English teacher to publish a story written as a class assignment. Despite being excited at the possibility of publishing, Cheryl at the time did not have the confidence or direction to pursue it. In 2012 with the encouragement of family and friends, "Little Mouse and the Muddy Feet" went into publication.

Although not the same story written earlier, the little mouse stories were inspired and written for her grandchildren. It did take forty years to realize her aspirations, but Cheryl has found pursuing this endeavor well worth the work and courage it required.

Cheryl has released her second book in the little Mouse Adventures. This book has been particularly significant because she authored and illustrated her new book. Combining her skills as an author with her abilities as an artist she engaged in a new challenge bringing "Little Mouse and the Big Green Frog" from a story board to reality. This new mouse tale continues to use the art of storytelling to instill character building lessons with whiskers, a curly tail and always a smile.
