Year Round Library offers Summer Reading Program

GILMANTON — Summer Reading Programs at the Gilmanton Year-Round Library start June 24 and children from birth to age 14 are encouraged to attend. Early registration runs June 17 – 20. Although registrations will be accepted at any time during the program, children who sign up during early registration will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone, courtesy of the Iron Works Market.
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, July 1 at 6 p.m. when the library will be hosting magician Peter Boie, courtesy of a Kids, Books and the Arts grant. Funding for the Kids, Books and the Arts event is provided by the Jack and Dorothy Bryne Foundation, CHILIS, Cogswell Benevolent Trust, and is supported in part by a grant from the NH State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts as well as funds administered by the NH State Library and provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. there will be a Family Fun Event when children and their caregivers can explore different themes. You can "Play with Your Food," discover the science behind Wild Weather, and learn about Peculiar Animal Partners and Fascinating Flora.
"Read to Me Story Time" happens Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.  We will read several stories on that week's theme and children will make a craft to take home.
Thursday of Discovery, Thursdays at 1:30 p.m., is experiment time with lots of audience participation.
Stop by on "Find Out Fun Facts Fridays" and use library resources to answer the question of the day and pick up new puzzle pages to take home.
For every event a child participates in, he or she will earn entries into a raffle for great prizes, drawn at the conclusion of the program on July 24, after our "Solid, Liquid or Gas?" Ice Cream Party and Wrap Up.
Don't worry we haven't left the grownups out. There's been a murder in sleepy little Gilmanton! Stop by and join the forensics team to figure out who witnessed the crime, who committed the crime, and where in town it happened - and which Librarian met her untimely death! All correct solutions enter the "detective" into a grand prize drawing. This will begin June 24.
