'Patch Adams' Film Wednesday night at Sanbornton Library

SANBORNTON — The Sanbornton Congregational Church – UCC in partnership with the Sanbornton Town Library is sponsoring a Film Series held on the first Wednesday of every month on the second floor of the library. Show time is 6:30-8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
The next film, to be shown on June 4, will be "Patch Adams" (1998) with Robin Williams, Monica Potter and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Director: Tom Shadyac. Rated: PG-13. Length: 118 minutes.
Meet Patch Adams, a doctor who doesn't look, act or think like any doctor you've met before. For Patch, humor is the best medicine, and he's willing to do just about anything to make his patients laugh - even if it means risking his own career. Based on the true story of Hunter "Patch" Adams, this film combines humor with an inspiring story that transcends the traditional comedy. This is the story of a depressed man who chooses to rise above his own needs and instead dedicates his life to helping others. It's sad, funny and inspiring.

With Robin Williams' familiar humor this movie engages the audience to see not only the healing power of laughter, but also the power of connection, of sharing the human experience. We are all human beings and we need to treat people with dignity and compassion.

Following the film a discussion will be led by Rev. Ruth Martz.
