PSU’s Elaine Doell is a ‘distinguished’ employee

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth State University's Director of Human Resources, Elaine Doell, has been recognized by her peers with PSU's 2014 Distinguished Professional, Administrative, and Technical (PAT) Award.

PSU President Sara Jayne Steen said Doell is a dedicated professional whose expertise, caring, and commitment are extraordinary.

"The Distinguished PAT award winner is characterized by intelligence and respect for others," said Steen. "Everyone who wins this award honors others in respecting them and working on their behalf. Award recipients are aware that the decisions they make affect real human beings. That is certainly true of Elaine, and that's incredibly meaningful."

Doell said she was surprised and honored at being chosen for the Distinguished PAT award. "I'm not often speechless, but this is really something.... Thank you so much for this award," said Doell. "I am going to continue to do all the things I do, treating people with fairness and respect."

Doell has been at PSU since 2002, serving as assistant director of human resources and as interim director before being named to her present position in 2012. She is responsible for campus recruitment and retention, training and development, payroll, benefits, employee relations, classification and compensation, and compliance. Doell also works closely with the PSU campus community in developing short-and long-range human resource goals to advance the university mission and to measure results. Since joining PSU, Doell has led the University through a significant change in its benefits program involving complex communication with multiple audiences. She designed an online discrimination and sexual harassment awareness training program.
