New Series of Sufi Classes underway

LACONIA — Heart of the Lakes Sufi Center started a new series of classes on Sunday, May 11. The title of the series is "Sufi Teachings on Spiritual Realization: Awakening, Illumination, Unity and Truth" and classes are being led by Malik Haig. There are four classes, on the second and fourth Sunday evenings in May and June. There is no charge for the classes and the public is invited to come to any or all of the classes; any material from previous classes will be reviewed if referred to in a subsequent class.

The theme of the classes explores the Sufi perspective on our development on earth, starting with our experience of the physical world and the opening to spirituality that many experience. "We come to earth with a purpose, but also an amnesia. Spiritual realization is the process of awakening and remembrance. This series of classes explores the Sufi perspective on the transformations of consciousness that lead to realization as we unfurl our consciousness and develop our spiritual vision" says Haig.

Class lasts just under an hour. Classes are designed for those with little or no knowledge of Sufism, and for people beginning to explore spirituality. All are welcome.

Heart of the Lakes Sufi Center classes meet at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia at 172 Pleasant Street. around 1 block north of the train depot in Laconia.
