TILTON — Volunteers are welcome to join members of the Winnipesaukee River Trail Association with their annual clean up and trail maintenance day which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.
People are needed to help pick up trash and provide some light trail maintenance. Those who want to participate are asked to meet at the Tilton section of the trail near Route 140 between McDonalds and Burger King. Participants are encouraged to bring work gloves, and hand tools including rakes, brush cutters, shovels, wheel barrows, etc. The association will provide garbage bags for trash pick-up.
The Winnipesaukee River Trail is a multi-use pedestrian trail that follows the abandoned railroad and connects the downtown areas of Franklin and Tilton/Northfield with Rt. 140/Exit 20 on I-93. A regional trail system — The Winnipesaukee River Trail — will eventually connect with trails in Laconia and Belmont to the east and the Northern Line to the west/north.
The Trail Association has its monthly meetings the second Tuesdays of the month 6:30 p.m. at Health First in Franklin.
