LACONIA — May 1 was a great day for Body Covers Custom Screen Printing & Embroidery, 94 Primrose Drive North, Laconia, which celebrated 25 years of continuous operations. Owners Aaron and Sarah Gra of Laconia, along with Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) Graphic Design Professor, Gail Beane, celebrated the event.
Body Covers, started by Betsy Spencer and Peter Caldwell, was a business that originated in a Manchester basement in 1989 before moving to the Lakes Region in 1993. Aaron and Sarah Gray met as LRCC Graphic Design students, worked as interns with Body Covers, married, and purchased the business in 2003 from Spencer and Caldwell.
Beane, also a LRCC Graphic Design graduate in 1992, has done a number of jobs with Body Covers over the years having worked with freelance logo design and assorted graphics projects layouts for multiple businesses and volunteer groups. "Say I was hired as a freelance graphic designer for a business, I would design the actual logo," says Beane who did an internship at The Citizen while in college and has been employed by Tyler Graphics Printing Company, and the Laconia Daily Sun newspaper doing marketing and advertising before beginning as a LRCC graphics professor three years ago. "Often the business would desire to redo artwork, create a poster, or put their logo on clothing and accessories and I would create a vector and give it to Body Covers for screen printing. I commend Body Covers for creating an outstanding and lucrative business over the past 25 years that has benefitted the Lakes Region and State."
