LACONIA — The Family Resource Center of Central New Hampshire, located at 719 N. Main Street, Laconia is offering "Tenant 101" and "Cooperative Co-Parenting" programs to families in the Lakes Region this June. . Both 4 – week series are free and include an optional dinner from 5:30-6:00 p.m. Space is limited in these popular offerings.
"Tenant 101" will meet on Tuesdays, June 3, 10, 17, & 24 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This series is open to all and aims to support tenants who may have poor or negative landlord references. Many area landlords accept Tenant 101 Certificates as a willingness to be a better tenant, which can offset a prior poor landlord reference.
Presenters Captain Steve Warren of the Salvation Army, Tammy Emery of LRCS Family Resource Center, Priscilla Bean of H&P Apartments, Leonard Campbell of Catholic Charities NH, Sheri Minor of Don Minor Rentals, Kerri Lowe of LRCS Family Resource Center, and Dan Feltes, New Hampshire Legal Assistance Housing Project Director will cover - what to look for in an apartment, what to expect in an interview, how to know if an apartment is affordable, tenant rights, the eviction process, and being a good neighbor.
"Cooperative Co-Parenting" will meet on Thursdays, June 6, 12, 19, & 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This series is for non-married, separated, or divorced parents and caregivers raising children together who share separate households. Presenters Jay Apicelli, MS, Family Mediator and Human Services Educator, Rob Hunt, Attorney at Law, and Tammy Emery, Step Ahead Family Support Specialist, Lakes Region Community Services, will cover - coping through separation and transition; skills for dealing with stress and anger; positive communication strategies; how to reduce and resolve conflict, negotiating agreements, and mediation and guardianship.
