MEREDITH — The Interlakes Summer Theater will presenting "Our Corner of the Sky," a concert of song and dance featuring the music of Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz.
Though Schwartz is most recently recognized for composing the Broadway musical "Wicked," audiences are also familiar with his scores for his first musical "Godspell" (on the theater's 2014 summer schedule) and for "Pippin," both of which recently enjoyed Broadway revivals. He has also composed tunes for Disney productions "Pocahontas," "Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "The Prince of Egypt."
The show will have two performances at the Inter-Lakes Auditorium, One Laker Lane, Meredith, over Mother's Day weekend, Saturday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, May12, at 3 p.m. All tickets are $25 and can be purchased by phoning 1-888-245-6374 or at interlakestheatre.com. Tickets will also be available at the door.
This year's show will be written and directed by New York City's David Beris and Ellie Kahn, and will feature familiar faces like Mikey LoBalsalmo, Cailtin Mesiano, Corey Scheys, Graham Campbell, Carla Martinez, Nancy Barry, and new faces appearing in the 2014 company: Charles Baran, Alexander Hampton, Paul Gregg, Alyssa Gonzalez, Jess Alvarez, Ellie Kahn.
There will also be a silent auction one hour prior to each performance to help support the theater in its pre-season preparation.
Interlakes Summer Theater is still seeking several $100 sponsors for its performing troupe. Every person who sponsors one of these actors, will be invited to dinner or brunch with the Schwartz cast during that same weekend.
