LACONIA — The New Hampshire Coalition of Aging Services (NHCAS) is hosting the 3rd Annual March for Meals Walkathon in five locations throughout the state on Saturday, May 17. The five locations are: Center Ossipee, Concord, Laconia, Littleton and Manchester.
Meals on Wheels Programs deliver hot meals and a check on safety for isolated older adults and people with disabilities. NHCAS members offer services over six counties: Belknap, Carroll, Coos, Grafton, Hillsborough and Merrimack. Last year, coalition agencies served over 800,000 Meals on Wheels to more than 5,000 New Hampshire residents.
By coordinating their efforts, the NHCAS agencies are able to create more awareness of the need for Meals on Wheels and, also, the need for support. Major sponsors of this event include: MassMutual Northern New England, Meridian Health Plan, Walmart Foundation, Bank of New Hampshire, Hudson Kiwanis Club, St. Joseph Hospital, Kindred Healthcare-Greenbriar and Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA.
“Nearly 10% of New Hampshire’s older adults are struggling with hunger and the need for our services continues to grow “, said members of the NHCAS. “Fundraising events like this help to ensure we are able to meet the increasing need.”
NHCAS invites people to participate in the event as donors, walkers and volunteers.
