Moulton Band Marking 125th Season

SANBORNTON — The 2014 season of the Moulton's Band of Sanbornton will mark the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the community band. It is the oldest continuous community band in New Hampshire. Although the band originated prior to 1889, it was when Charles Moulton became the band director and opened it to all instruments that the band took his name.

Over the years, the number of participants has varied. The band is made up of local student and adult musicians from surrounding towns and is currently directed by Ginger Chapman of Sanbornton. The music varies with selections from Big Band, Swing, Marches, and Contemporary favorites played throughout the summer at the First and Second Baptist Churches of Sanbornton and the Sanbornton Square during the months of July and August. It has expanded to include area parades as well.

The Moulton's Band meets at the Sanbornton Library beginning on the first Sunday of May. It is extending an invitation to past member to join throughout the season as the band celebrates this milestone. New member are always welcome.
