LACONIA — In support of National Car Care Month and to raise funds to support student travel to attend the SkillsUSA National Skills and Leadership Conference in Kansas City, MO; Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) will be hosting a Spring Car Care Check-Up event on the LRCC campus Saturday, April 19, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Vehicle inspections will be conducted by LRCC Automotive Technology students, instructors, and local business volunteers. Inspections will cover the following:
Ø Exterior lighting
Ø Horn operation
Ø Windshield wiper/washer condition and operation
Ø Tire wear, tread depth, and air pressure
Ø Battery inspection (condition of cabling and connections)
Ø Battery state of health check
Ø Drive belt and coolant hose evaluation
Ø Fluid level checks
Ø Inspection of the air filter (if easily accessible)
Ø Inspection of passenger compartment filter (if applicable and easily accessible)
Upon completion of the inspection, motorists will be provided a comprehensive vehicle assessment identifying any items of concern. They will also receive a list of supporting locations where they can purchase replacement parts or have repairs performed. Students, instructors, and technicians will be available to educate and help inform motorists of the important role that preventative maintenance has on avoiding potentially costly repairs down the road.
The inspection is free to the public, but donations will be gladly accepted and are very much appreciated.
