workshop discusses ECP Employeevs. Contractor April 17

PLYMOUTH — The Enterprise Center at Plymouth (ECP) is pleased to present the next workshop in the Small Business Legal Series with Devine Millimet: Employee vs. Contractor on Thursday, April 17, from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Enterprise Center at Plymouth.

Peg O’Brien, of the legal firm Devine Millimet, will provide an overview of the differences between an employee and a contractor. With the government cracking down on misclassification, O'Brien will discuss various tests that a business must satisfy in order to successfully classify a worker as an independent contractor instead of an employee.

Following this workshop, a Devine Millimet lawyer will be available for consultations at the ECP. As a shareholder of the firm Devine Milliment, and chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group, O’Brien represents both public and private employers in all aspects of employment law and litigation. Her extensive experience in all phases of employment matters range from best employment hiring practices to claims of discrimination, background checks, workplace privacy issues, government audits, employee misconduct, and more.

Servicing a broad spectrum of industries, O'Brien's clients range from healthcare to auto dealerships, local government to non-profit, and a variety of small businesses. Well published and a frequent speaker, Peg shares her knowledge with organizations and publications as well as the boards she serves.

This event is offered at no cost to attendees, but space is limited, so be sure to reserve your seat by clicking the “Seminars” page on the ECP website, contacting the Center office at 535-3222, or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots.
