LACONIA — The Congregational Church of Laconia, UCC invites the public to share in Music for Lent. All events will be held in the sanctuary of the church, in at 18 Veteran's Square in downtown Laconia. Organ concerts will be presented at noon on Friday April 4 and Friday April 11, and a Good Friday service will feature music by the combined choirs of the Laconia and Sanbornton Congregational churches.
An organ concert on April 4 will feature Kimberly Vars Whitehead, the Director of Music and Organist at Brookside Congregational Church in Manchester, NH. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire, and Master's degree from Boston University where she was a student of James David Christie. She has performed with many different ensembles including a 12-member a cappella group in Boston called 'Tempus,' and recently collaborated with Alexander Romanul, violin and Priscilla Hamilton, flute to form the "Ionian Trio."
She teaches privately to "kids" of all ages, is the Music Director for the Amherst Theater Club, the accompanist for the Milford HS chorus, and is a member of the Merrimack Valley Ringers, an auditioned community handbell ensemble that tours throughout New England. She resides in Milford with her husband and their girls.
