LACONIA — Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) is offering a series of Energy Workshops beginning March 29. The workshops are being taught by Wesley Golomb, an Energy Services and Technology (EST) Professor at LRCC.
"Scientific Basis for Climate Change" will be held on Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to noon. This workshop will discuss the scientific information which has led to the near consensus among scientists that the Earth's climate is warming. "Building (or Retrofitting) your Dream House Green" will be held on Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m. to noon. This class will cover the basic concepts of building science and what a homeowner can do to make a residence more efficient in a cost effective manner.
On Saturday, April 26, the class is "Renewable Energy for Homeowners." Homeowners will be able to identify potential options for using renewable energy on their residence and be able to take the first steps in determining if these options are appropriate to their site. Among the renewable energy options covered are: Passive Solar, Solar Thermal, Photovoltaics, Geothermal, Wind, and Biomass.
On Saturday, May 3, LRCC EST Professor, Wes Golomb, will be teaching "Financing Energy Projects," which will focus on energy incentives, tax credits, and financing mechanisms which can help to get projects built. Homeowners will have the resources to find information specific to their projects. Each workshop is $100. If one registers for all four workshops, the fee will be $350 – a $50 savings.
