CANTERBURY — Canterbury Shaker Village, the National Historic Landmark dedicated to preserving the 200-year Shaker legacy of innovative design, entrepreneurship and simple living is looking for creative pieces in a variety of media to be included in a new exhibit: Shaker Traditions, Contemporary Translations.
The exhibit will showcase the many ways Village visitors and members are inspired to translate the Shakers' commitment to simplicity and mindfulness into their personal expressions. Creative professionals, artistic citizens and students are invited to submit creative pieces by April 30.
Works of art will be reviewed and selected by a panel of creative professionals and members of the Canterbury Shaker Village Collections Committee, based on their quality and relevance to the exhibit theme.
Shaker Traditions, Contemporary Translations will be unveiled as part of Village Rising, a day long celebration, on August 16, and will remain on display at the Village through December 2014.
