NEW HAMPTON — The New Hampton Hazard Mitigation Plan Committee will begin the process of updating its 2009 Hazard Mitigation Plan. The committee, which is represented by a variety of local interests, will focus on the natural and man-made hazards that put New Hampton at risk as well as the development of recommendations to protect the safety and well being of town residents.
The committee will have its first meeting on March 14 at the New Hampton Public Safety Building, 26 Intervale Drive starting at 2 p.m. Residents and business owners of New Hampton and representatives from neighboring communities are encouraged to attend and provide input.
Hazard Mitigation Planning is as important to reducing disaster losses as are appropriate regulations and land use ordinances. The most significant areas of concern for New Hampton will be determined as a result of this process.
