LACONIA — The Belknap Economic Development Council will host its annual meeting on Thursday, March 20 at the Lakes Region Community College. Registration and cocktail reception begin at 4:15 p.m. followed by the business meeting portion of the evening promptly at 5 p.m.
The evening includes keynote speaker, Dr. Ross Gittell, Chancellor of the Community College System of New Hampshire. Chancellor Gittell will discuss the role of education and specifically the Community College System of NH in state and regional economic development. State-wide and local efforts to increase higher educational attainment that support a strong economic future will be highlighted.

In its continued tradition, the Belknap EDC will be presenting awards which represent the EDC's goals and strategic plan. The Belknap EDC Community Impact Award, the first of three awards, is presented to an individual, business or organization that has had a significant impact on economic development in the region. The Norman Marsh Leadership Award, honoring the late County Commissioner and local businessman instrumental in founding the Belknap EDC, recognizes outstanding leadership on economic development issues. The third community award is the Corporate Soul Award and is presented to a business or organization with a deep commitment to the essence of community, one who continuously works to make a difference in local community and economic development efforts.
