Story of Belmont postmaster's thwarting of JFK assassination to be aired beginning tonight

BELMONT — A nearly forgotten Belmont historical saga will air on a Travel Channel "Mysteries at the Museum" episode premiering Thursday, February 27 at 9 p.m. The story is about the heroism of former Postmaster and community leader Thomas Murphy – widely credited as thwarting a 1960 assassination attempt on then President-elect John F. Kennedy. Pauline "Polly" Murphy, his widow, provided family files and memorabilia for the filming, shot on site last summer at the Belmont Public Library. The segment also interviews veteran political journalist and author Jeff Greenfield, whose book "Then Everything Changed", brought the incident to light.

MetroCast Travel Channel 70 and TravelHD 770 schedules show the segment running nearly 20 times through March 7. Program promotion is featured on www.travelchannel.com/tv-shows/mysteries-at-the-museum
